A constant problem for transport companies in their vehicles maintenance is the engine parameters and fault codes identification and interpretation, as well as the data standardization to carry out evaluations and operational comparisons with various manufacturers brands, this being a complex goal for fleet managers.
At Didcom® we turned this situation around to turn this problem into an innovation and business opportunity for this sector. With the technology potential and applied knowledge, we created a “multi-brand” solution specialized in continuous measurement and monitoring of engine parameters and fault codes, to convert data into a standardized level… and we succeeded!
The EPC-Engine Protocol Converter is a patent with registration folio MX/T/2018/52356 and patent number. 357017, under the name “Módulo de Monitoreo Preventivo y de Protección para Motores en Vehículos” granted to Didcom® in 2018 by the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI).
Our solution is responsible for monitoring motor parameters within specific operating ranges to notify and act on conditions that could affect the engine integrity in order to protect it. Making it possible to take a protection action even before a fault code occurs.
Once developed and patented, it was possible to commercialize the EPC – Engine Protocol Converter on a large scale with clients in the transport sector, positioning the advantages it presents compared to others on the market:
The module is installed in the vehicle and connected directly to the unit’s data network. Once the vehicle is turned on, the data network begins to transmit information, making it possible to detect if there is any failure in the vehicle’s operation that affects the engine, issuing an audible alert to the driver and keeping a GPS record of the place and time where the failure occurred.
The main attraction of the EPC – Engine Protocol Converter is its wide compatibility, providing the ability to convert proprietary manufacturer protocols to standardized protocols, greatly facilitating maintenance management in vehicle fleets with brand units Mercedes Benz®, MAN®, Volkswagen®, Hino ®, among others.
In addition, it is compatible with a wide variety of Telematics devices on the market, making it possible to integrate it into established systems, as a friendly solution for vehicle fleets.
