Didcom and University of Sonora celebrate a collaboration agreement to promote Big Data research through Data Science and Machine Learning
What to do with more than billions of data generated daily in the fleet operation? At Didcom we continue to promote Data Science to generate valuable information and make better decisions.
On Tuesday, May 3, 2022, we were visited at the Didcom facilities by Dr. Jesús Adolfo Minjárez Sosa, Dr. Jesús Francisco Espinoza Fierro and Dr. Rosalia Guadalupe Hernández Amador, academic representatives of the Department of Mathematics of the University of Sonora, to celebrate the official launch of the collaboration agreement between both institutions.

Collaboration has been formalized to work on a project called “Analysis of Big Data Research Methodologies, Proposals for Statistical Models and Machine Learning” which seeks to strengthen collaboration between academics and professionals to promote the development of new and better practices for information analysis through Data Science.
Currently, the UNISON mathematics department has a data science master’s degree with an interdisciplinary team of professors, who teach students from different scientific perspectives: investigative and professional, through a program of postgraduate degree linked to the nature of scientific analysis carried out in the industrial sector.
Project Goals
The project main objective is the variants exploration of mathematical models through data science for the interpretation and creation of value to the millions of daily data generated by the vehicle fleets that Didcom controls and monitors throughout the country, with the firm purpose of helping end customers to make better decisions in their operation to generate a costs reduction, increasing their profitability.

Didcom, through the achievements, will transform these results into applied technology in our various products, helping us to be at the forefront of technological development to provide a better service to the automotive transport sector.
The University of Sonora will have access to large volumes of data to carry out its scientific research as part of its academic activity, opening the possibility for undergraduate and graduate students of the department to participate in the analysis to generate practical experience in an industrial environment related to their studies.
The scope of this collaboration agreement will allow us to analyze and execute proposals for appropriate methodologies for the data generated in Didcom, as a basis for projects, protocols and research programs that integrate the data, guidelines and specifications defined for each case.
Our approach to Data Science
The Didcom Data Science area was integrated into the technology department in 2018 as a response to the complexity of analyzing and handling the large volume of information that is constantly handled in the company, faced with the need to incorporate personnel specialized in data processing methodologies: Data Engineer and Data Scientist.
Didcom, making use of the great flow of data that it processes daily through our platforms, seeks to integrate best practices and processes of Data Science and Machine Learning that speed up the obtaining of valuable information for the intelligent decision-making of our clients.
Currently, the type of analysis that is currently carried out for the creation of data-based products focuses on the analysis of time series and statistical models that allow forecasts to be made on the variables studied, allowing our clients to analyze their operation and make corrections. necessary to achieve their goals.
Didcom approached the University of Sonora with the aim of obtaining support in the current analysis carried out in the Data Science area in order to improve our internal processes to generate data-based products and receive specialized feedback to define the analysis, models and conclusions more suitable to solve the problems of our clients.
